2. Faster Startup On Windows XP:
Click Run
Type Msconfig In The Run Box
Go To Startup Tab
Uncheck All The Startup Programs You Dont Need Starting
And Click Appy
Then Click Apply And Restart

3. Faster Shutdown:
Start
Run
Regedit
Navigate to the following Registry Key
HKEY
CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Double click on the AutoEndTasks entry or Right click and click modify and replace
the 0 with a 1 in the Value data box
Double click on the WaitToKillAppTimeout entry in the
right pane or right click and click modify and change the Value data to 2000
Double click on the HungAppTimeout entry in the right
pane or right click and click modify and change the Value data to 1000
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
Right-click
on WaitToKillServiceTimeout and change it to 2000
Note: The Lowest You Can Set This Tweak At Is 1000
This tweak is tested & safe.
Improve Core System Performance:
This tweak is good for 1 gig of ram or higher. This tweak makes windows
alot faster by forcing the core windows system to be kept in the memory instead of being paged to the hard disk.
1. Go to "Start, Run" and in the prompt, enter "regedit". Hit Enter.
2. Go
to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTECurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Memory Management"
3. In the list of DWORDS on the right, you should see one called "DisablePagingExecutive".
4.
Right click on the value and go to "Modify".
5. In the "Value" box, change the a 1 to disable system paging.
